Find Taxes Confusing? Are you unfamiliar with Canada’s banking system? Want to know how to make the best investment choices? The Financial Literacy program Level 1 is a free 9 week program that will give you the fundamental skills to be confident in managing your finances. Level 1 classes run on Tuesdays from 7-9 pm. The class schedule is as follows:

  • May 1 – Banking
  • May 8 – Budgeting
  • May 15 – No Class
  • May 22 – Credit/Debt
  • May 29 – Income Tax
  • June 5 – Insurance
  • June 12 – Investments
  • June 19 – Government Support Programs
  • June 26 – Fraud
  • July 3 – Review/Graduation

Level 2 classes run for 9 sessions on Wednesdays from 7-9pm. The schedule is as follows:

PIGS: Canada’s Pink Floyd @ Keyano Theatre and Arts Centre

Come celebrate some of the most amazing music ever made as PIGS: Canada’s Pink Floyd Tribute continues their LEFT + RIGHT Tour into the spring of 2018.  The third leg of PIGS’ 16 week, 57-date tour across Canada that started in the fall of 2017 features 14 dates in Saskatchewan, BC, Alberta, and Manitoba.

PIGS have been touring Canada extensively over the past few years with their flawless musical rendition of Pink Floyd, thrilling fans in Prince George, Fort St John, Airdrie, Toronto, Halifax, Edmonton, Kelowna, Quebec City, Windsor, Chilliwack, and many, many other cities.  PIGS are the only nationally touring Pink Floyd Tribute in Canada and will soon be heading across the border into the US, with Pacific and East Coast tours in the works, as well as tour plans for Asia and Europe.

Refugee Awareness for Enhanced Service Delivery Workshop @ Syncrude Athletic Park Clubhouse

The workshop is for service providers (government, non-profit, and private) from front-line staff to managers and supervisors. The workshop aims to provide accurate and comprehensive information about refugees to host communities. It supports individuals and organizations in understanding the pre-migration experiences of refugees, offer practical tools for working with refugee families, and provide ideas for creating welcoming and inclusive environments that ensure sustainable and successful resettlement of refugees in Alberta.

Cost: Free

Rationale: The workshop would be particularly of interest for improving client focused service delivery, increasing awareness of the challenges that refugees face, and increasing understanding some systemic barriers that are in place.
